The APRENDER Project, Education for Special Needs, is an interactive multimedia resource focused on students with special needs in education. It is part of the bilateral cooperation agreements between the Ministry of Education and Science and various regions, like Extremadura, for the development of the actions described in the Framework Agreement "Internet in the School" signed by the Ministries of Education, Culture and Sport and Science and Technology, as a part of the action plan Info XXI.
The “Internet in the Classroom” program provides continuity to the actions implemented under the previous program "Internet in the School". The “Internet in the Classroom” program is being conducted to provide basic information and communication infrastructure to all schools in Spain. This project has helped to achieve a critical mass of computers, laptops, whiteboards, multimedia projectors and peripherals for integration into the daily activities of the classroom.
The main objective of the “Aprender” project is to offer a series of educational resources specialy designed to meet the demands of disabled users.
It provides parents and teachers with additional aid in personal training for the user and introduce him/her in the management and use of new technologies. This has been developed by designing specific activities for each one of the disabilities and its circumstances. Student identification with the characters, their autonomy degree, the accessibility, the consistency between design and content, among other things, have been some of the aspects that has been reflected and recorded the whole philosophy of the resource.

Citizens Online have been working in the sector for 15 years, innovating local partnerships to embed digital inclusion and helping to build digitally resilient communities. Our white paper ‘The case for a systemic approach to digital skills‘ shows what we have learnt about what’s important for digital inclusion.
Our long-term partnership with BT running the Get IT Together Programme has been a huge success, not just helping over 20,000 people to gain digital skills but also demonstrate a social value to those new internet users of £1,064.
We are also very pleased to be working in a new cross-sector partnership with AbilityNet, Age UK, Affinity Sutton, and SCVO led by Digital Unite.
Citizens Online is a national charity that was set up to tackle the issues of digital exclusion, to make sure that the Internet is available to everybody and to help individuals and communities understand and gain the benefits of being online.
We work in a number of ways, offering a powerful approach to digital inclusion that can be both sustainable and scalable.

The Provence Alpes Cote d’Azur region (PACA) public strategy for Information Technology and Communication (ICT) aims to fight against digital exclusion, to support awareness and training by creating public spaces of digital outreach called “ERIC Cyber-base”.

Initiative launched by the Regional Government of Extremadura (Spain) in 1999. This is a regional infrastructure network throughout Extremadura, for the society to access to the digital world (regional, intranet, internet, e-mails, social networks, ICTs, etc), and also for training in ICT and to connect the rural areas with the Information Society, in order to allow all the regional business and social fabric to increase their competitiveness by using the opportunities generated by the new technologies. It is based on the principle of no-exclusion.
This network provide public spaces for free and democratic access to the Net, well equipped with computers and broadband access for the citizens and social, economic and cultural organizations to know and experiment the opportunities generated by ICTs. The NCCs are also used for ICT training programmes.

“Tecnología sin barreras” (No-barriers Technology) is a corporative voluntary project, developed by Fundación Adecco and INSA-IBM, which is a subsidiary company of IBM in Cáceres (Extremadura) working on advanced software computer engineering (design, development, management and use of computer systems as well as in marketing of computer products and services). Through this project, employees from INSA, most IT developers, are invited to propose and develop technological solutions to promote the employment of people with intellectual disabilities. This is a corporative voluntary work project, in which IT developers from INSA, that are the greatest part of the staff, can mobilise their talents to simplify the use of basic tools such as the computer or mobile phone and this way normalise the social and working life of disabled people.
